Nice March day in the nations capital

Took a stroll around the mall this past Sunday...the weather was too nice to stay inside. Only problem is that I ended up coming home with a nasty sinus headache...seems a bit too early for allergies...anyway, here is a picture of the capital building in all it's autostitch glory :-)

Rock Hunting for Apache Tears

A coworker and I went rock hunting for Apache Tears this afternoon as we had some free time after work and the weather was really nice (if a bit cold and windy). We went looking here. One byproduct of the wind was the interesting clouds, which you can see in this picture below. They sorta look like flying saucers.

View looking east from the highway. Check out the clouds...

Some of the Apache Tears found today.

Death Valley 2010

Had some free time this afternoon, so a coworker and I took a quick trip to Death Valley (it's only 8 miles away). First we visited Rhyolite, NV, home of a real life ghost town. Then we headed over to Death Valley. The place was swarming with cops pulling people over...the speed limit was 25 mph in some places and 35 in others...very "strange" for such a wide open place. Thankfully we didn't get pulled over. Below are some stitched photos taken with my iPhone. Enjoy!

Sunset from the bottom of Death Valley.

Here is a house made of glass bottles. It was built in 1906 and is located in Rhyolite, NV.

Random pretty sky in Rhyolite, NV.

You'd be amazed what you might run across in the desert...a real blonde for example...
